And just like that, it’s the very last Monday of 2021.
First, I hope your Christmas weekend was a good one. Mine was spent working, but thankfully I had my best friend visiting so it was alright. I’d rather have been in Lagos having a very detty December but with covid coviding so hard, that wasn’t even on the cards for this Christmas.
As we approach the second anniversary of this pandemic, I’ve been thinking more and more of all of the ways in which our lives have changed as a result. Some people have struggled more than others, but we have all been affected somehow and it is important to acknowledge this.
There’s something about a new year that signifies hope. And after the year that has been, I need all the hope I can muster.
As we prepare for the new year, I thought I’d share a few personal reminders.
It’s okay not to be okay. No one has it together all the time.
Your happiness or success doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s.
Not all your weaknesses need improvement, maximise your strengths instead.
You are the sum of your habits.
At the end of every year, I try to reflect on how the year went and use that as a guide for the coming year. This year, I’ll be using Year compass which I only just discovered. I believe there’s some magic that happens when you put pen to paper. Also, sometimes it takes writing things down to see more clearly. For me at least.
There you have it my friends. Thank you for being part of the thing I am proudest of in 2021.
Here’s wishing you hope for a better 2022.
Chioma.
